Real Rights are fundamental rights of all workers, and they aim to improve their conditions.

What are the Real Rights in this campaign?
Real Rights, mentioned by this public information campaign:
- are fundamental rights, essential to all workers, including those who use digital platforms.
- have been achieved throughout history, seeking to ensure decent working conditions and prevent endless exploitation.
- must be protected in order to guarantee quality of life for workers, good working conditions, sustainable economic development and environmental protection for current and future generations.
Where are the Real Rights in this campaign expected to be applied?
The main Real Rights of workers, referred to in this public information campaign, are provided for in Article 7 of the Brazilian Federal Constitution.
There are other Real Rights that are also important and are established in national and international laws, both in the Conventions and Recommendation of the International Labor Organization, and in International Human Rights Treaties.

Which rights can be cited as examples of Real Rights?
The following can be cited as Real Rights:
- appropriate compensation for both the time worked and being at the contractor's disposal;
- non-exhaustive working hours with paid breaks and vacations;
- health and safety protection at work;
- The right to a balanced environment, including the working environment;
- the right to information about aspects of work, such as forms of work organization and management, capturing workers' data and using it;
- protecting workers against unilateral decisions and punishments;
- workers' right to participate, organize collectively and demand better working conditions and pay;
- the right to social benefits (Social Security), such as: accident benefit, sickness benefit, maternity and paternity leave, retirement, among others;
- protection against any kind of discrimination at work (racial, religious, gender, sexual or political orientation, etc.).
Why are Real Rights fundamental in digital platform work?
The Real Rights mentioned by the campaign are also fundamental in work on digital platforms, as they provide access to other rights that are equally important to people's lives, and this is no different when working on digital platforms.
Having the right to adequate and predictable pay, to paid rest, to working conditions that protect life and health, with guaranteed protection against illness and accidents, to information on aspects of how work is carried out, for example, is part of building a society of solidarity and fairness, for present and future generations.
The protection of fundamental labor rights must go hand in hand with economic growth and the use of new technologies.
The use of new technologies in the world of work and production must integrate the guarantee and protection of labor rights, contributing to ecologically sustainable and balanced economic growth.
For these reasons, the protection of labor rights and the guarantee of decent jobs are pillars of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
